Professional Disclosure Statement

I believe that all people have a basic goodness that propels them toward health and growth. At times life challenges may get in the way of realizing this, but the ability for change is always with us. My intention is to create an open and safe space in which you can share your thoughts and express your feelings freely. I can offer professional guidance to help you become aware of the things that stand in your way of living a fulfilling and happy life. Together we can find workable solutions to everyday problems.

I enjoy counseling with individuals who are going through any type of transition. For what may appear to be better or worse, our lives are constantly changing and adjustments are frequently required of us. With the help of counseling, these changes can provide an excellent opportunity to more deeply develop your strengths and abilities.

At times life can confront us with problems that seem unmanageable or more then we can handle alone. My style is to create a connection of unconditional presence to help support you through this difficult passage.

My approach will assist you to be aware of how your body, mind, and spirit are responding to your situation. If you like we can explore creative forms of therapy such as art, music and movement. I can also help you to get started on a mindfulness practice if you are interested.

I have a BA in Elementary Education and a Masters degree in Social Work. I am a licensed clinician in the State of Oregon and have completed a two year curriculum in Gestalt therapy. My professional experience as an elementary school teacher and as a medical social worker has provided me with the opportunity to work in diverse situations with individuals, couples children, and families. In this capacity I have also worked with issues surrounding chronic illness, death and dying, and bereavement. Many years of contemplative practice has provided me with insight, inspiration, and guidance for this work.
