The Grotto’s Grounds and Gardens
The Grotto is surrounded by natural beauty. With over 62-acres of manicured gardens and paths visitors are invited to enjoy the plaza and upper levels during any season year round. The plaza level of The Grotto, with its walking paths, showcases native northwest plants, beautiful statues, and Chapel of Mary. The Upper Level Gardens located 110 feet above The Grotto’s lower level sits at the top of the north face of Rocky Butte. Visitors will find an inspiring landscape with manicured gardens and walking paths. There are numerous chapels, statues, walking paths and reflective spaces on the upper level. The upper level Gardens are possibly the best kept secret in Portland as well as one of its largest green spaces.
